How to change a photo on your page

Swapping a photo is one of the most common changes you’ll make. The new photo takes the place of the old one and keeps the same size and position, so the page layout stays as it was.

You'll learn

How to replace any photo on a page with a new one

Takes

About 4 minutes

You'll need

Your new photo saved on your computer

Watch: “How to Use the Image Widget in Elementor”, an official video from Elementor. It shows the same job on their own demo site, so your screen may look a little different. The written steps below are the ones to follow.

1

Open the page in Elementor

Go to Pages, hover over the page you want and click Edit with Elementor.

2

Click the photo you want to change

Click once on the photo. A blue outline shows it’s selected, and its settings open in the panel on the left.

3

Click the small picture in the left panel

Under Choose Image you’ll see a small version of the current photo. Click it. This opens your Media Library.

4

Upload your new photo

Click the Upload files tab, then Select files, and pick the photo from your computer. You can also drag it straight into the window. It shows a tick when it’s ready.

5

Describe the photo

On the right, find the Alt Text box and type a short description of what’s in the picture, such as “Newly fitted oak kitchen with island”.

6

Click Select, then publish

Click the blue button at the bottom right and your new photo appears on the page. If you’re happy with it, click Publish at the top right.

Common mistakes

Nothing happens when I click the photo.

It may be a background image, which sits behind other content and is changed in a different place. See the lesson on containers.

My photo looks blurry.

The file is too small. Use a photo at least 1,600 pixels wide for a large image.

The photo is cropped oddly.

The new one is a different shape from the old one. Try a photo with similar proportions.
