Training / Building with Elementor / Lesson 9 of 9

How to build a new page from scratch

This lesson brings everything together. You’ll create a page, build it from parts that already exist on your site, and add it to your menu.

You'll learn

How to create a new page, lay it out and put it live

Takes

About 8 minutes

You'll need

Your text and photos ready, and to have done the earlier lessons in this module

Watch: “Create your first Elementor page”, an official video from Elementor. It shows the same job on their own demo site, so your screen may look a little different. The written steps below are the ones to follow.

1

Create the page

In the dashboard, hover over Pages and click Add New Page. Type a title, then click Edit with Elementor.

2

Set the layout

Click the cog icon in the top bar to open page settings. Set Page Layout to match your other pages. If you’re unsure, open an existing page and see what it uses.

3

Start with a saved section

Click the folder icon, open My Templates and insert a section you’ve saved, such as a page heading. This gives you the right fonts and spacing from the start.

4

Add the rest

Add more saved sections, or copy sections from other pages and paste them in. Then replace the words and photos with your own.

5

Check it on mobile

Switch to phone view and tidy any spacing or text sizes.

6

Publish

Click Publish, then view the page.

7

Add it to your menu

Go to Appearance, then Menus, tick your new page, click Add to Menu and save.

Common mistakes

My new page has no header or footer.

The page layout is set to a blank canvas. Change Page Layout in page settings to match your other pages.

It doesn't look like the rest of my site.

It was probably built from blank widgets. Use saved or copied sections instead.

The page is published but I can't find it on my site.

It isn’t in the menu yet. Follow step 7.

Still stuck?

Tell us which page it’s on and what you’re trying to do. We can talk you through it or make the change for you.
