Training / Building with Elementor / Lesson 8 of 9

How to edit a form and where enquiries go

Your contact form is how customers reach you, so it’s worth handling with care. Small changes are simple. Always send a test afterwards.

You'll learn

How to change a form’s questions and the email address enquiries are sent to

Takes

About 5 minutes

You'll need

A page with a form open in Elementor

Watch: “How to Use the Form Widget”, an official video from Elementor. It shows the same job on their own demo site, so your screen may look a little different. The written steps below are the ones to follow.

1

Select the form

Click anywhere on the form. Its settings open on the left, starting with Form Fields.

2

Change a question

Click a field in the list to open it. Change the Label, which is the question, and the Placeholder, which is the pale hint inside the box.

3

Add or remove a question

Click Add Item for a new field and choose its Type, such as Text, Email or Tel. Click the cross on a field to remove it. Short forms get filled in more often.

4

Make a field compulsory

Open the field and switch on Required.

5

Check where enquiries are sent

Open Email further down the panel. The To box holds the address that receives enquiries. Change it only if you’re sure of the new address.

6

Publish and test

Click Publish, then fill in the form on your live website and check the email arrives.

Common mistakes

Test enquiries aren't arriving.

Check your junk folder first. If nothing’s there, tell us straight away, because real enquiries may be going missing too.

I removed the email field.

Put it back. Without it you can’t reply to anyone.

I can't see an Email section.

Your form may be made with a different tool. Ask us before changing it.

Still stuck?

Tell us which page it’s on and what you’re trying to do. We can talk you through it or make the change for you.
