Training / Building with Elementor / Lesson 7 of 9

Four widgets worth knowing

Beyond headings, text, images and buttons, four widgets cover most of what small business websites need.

You'll learn

How to use the icon box, gallery, video and accordion widgets

Takes

About 6 minutes

You'll need

A page open in Elementor

Watch: “How to use the accordion widget”, an official video from Elementor. It shows the same job on their own demo site, so your screen may look a little different. The written steps below are the ones to follow.

1

Icon Box

A small picture with a heading and a line of text, good for listing services or benefits. Change the icon under Content, then the title and description below it.

2

Gallery

A grid of photos. Click the gallery, then click the images in the panel to open the Media Library. Add or remove photos and click the button to update the gallery.

3

Video

Shows a video from YouTube or Vimeo. Upload your video to one of those first, then paste its web address into the Link box.

4

Accordion

A list of questions that open when clicked, ideal for frequently asked questions. Click an item in the panel to edit its title and answer, and click Add Item for a new one.

5

Copy one that exists

If your site already uses one of these, duplicate it and change the contents. It will match the rest of the site without any styling.

Common mistakes

My gallery photos are different shapes and look uneven.

Crop them all to the same shape before uploading.

My video won't play.

It may be set to private on YouTube. Change it to Public or Unlisted.

Should I upload a video file to my website?

No. Video files are huge and slow a site down. Host them on YouTube or Vimeo and link to them.

Still stuck?
