Training / Building with Elementor / Lesson 4 of 9

How to duplicate a section or a page

The quickest way to add something new is to copy something that already looks right. You keep the styling and only change the words and pictures.

You'll learn

How to copy something that already exists and reuse it

Takes

About 4 minutes

You'll need

A page open in Elementor

Watch: “Containers: Move and Reuse”, an official video from Elementor. It shows the same job on their own demo site, so your screen may look a little different. The written steps below are the ones to follow.

1

Duplicate one item or section

Right-click it, or right-click its six dots, and choose Duplicate. A copy appears straight after the original. You can also press Ctrl + D, or Cmd + D on a Mac.

2

Change the copy

Click into the copy and change its text and images. The original is not affected.

3

Copy something to another page

Right-click the item and choose Copy. Open the other page in Elementor, right-click where you want it and choose Paste.

4

Copy a whole page

Open the page, click the arrow beside Publish and choose Save as Template. Give it a name. Make a new page, open it in Elementor, click the folder icon in the empty area, find your template under My Templates and click Insert.

5

Rename and publish

Give the new page its own title and publish it.

Common mistakes

I edited the original thinking it was the copy.

Press Ctrl + Z or Cmd + Z, then click the second one, which is the copy.

Paste isn't offered on the other page.

Open both pages in the same browser, and copy again just before you paste.

My new page has the same title as the old one.

Change the title in page settings, the cog icon in the top bar.
